Online 12 Lead EKG interpretation
From the basic to the complicated, learn it all in an easy self-paced format
Take the opportunity to learn how to confidently interpret EKG's from nurse practitioners who do this skill daily! With 3.0 AAFP Approved Contact hours, this course covers all basic interpretation as well as a fair amount of the more complex diagnostic capabilities of the 12 Lead EKG.
You need no experience with 12 lead EKG to attend, but competence in interpretation of cardiac rhythms is a recommended prerequisite.
This online, self-paced course is a pre-recorded presentation to a large group of new graduate nurses and nurse practitioners, with a conversational focus on simple concepts and eventually more complicated concepts demystified. Learners are capable of applying their learning immediately to real patients.
Content covered includes:
- Positioning of leads
- Cardiac anatomy
- Electrical Axis: Normal vs abnormal
- Left Anterior Fascicular Block
- Left Posterior Fascicular Block
- Left Bundle Branch Block
- Right Bundle Branch Block
- Myocardial Infarction types
- Underlying vascular tendencies for overlying EKG findings
- ST depressions, elevations, and q-wave abnormalities
- Pattern recognition for acute MI
- Inferior, Septal, Anterior, and Lateral MI
- Reciprocal changes commonly seen
- Dressler Syndrome/Pericarditis
- Hyper/hypocalcemia
- Hyper/hypokalemia
- Brugada Syndrome
- Long QT syndromes
- Pre-excitation
- Pulmonary Embolism/S1Q3T3
- Other common diagnoses made from EKGs
- Plenty more fun surprises
The AAFP has reviewed Online 12 Lead EKG Interpretation and deemed it acceptable for up to 3.00 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 06/01/2024 to 05/31/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
